 SelectScience Announces Launch of SelectScience.tv and Winners of Scientists' Choice Web Awards at Pittcon 2009

 SelectScience.net, the leading online resource for applied chemists, clinical chemists and life scientists, has announced the launch of SelectScience.tv, the first dedicated online video channel for laboratory scientists. The awards for Best New Products in 2008, and Best Email and Banner Campaigns, were also presented at a reception celebrating the launch of SelectScience.tv at Pittcon 2009.
"SelectScience.tv marks a milestone in online publishing," said Arif Butt, Publisher of SelectScience.net. "10 years ago when SelectScience.net was launched, the use of the internet was first being adopted by scientists as a means to find information on new technologies and manufacturers. In 2009 we see that scientists are increasingly using video content as a direct educational method to access new product and application information. As a dedicated scientific channel, SelectScience.tv provides a resource to access video content produced by the SelectScience editorial team, manufacturers and scientists."

Runners-up: Prominence UFLCXR, Shimadzu and Explore Luna PFP (2), Phenomenex
Best New Spectroscopy Product in 2008
Winner: AB SCIEX QTRAP 5500 System, Applied Biosystems/MDS Analytical Technologies
Runners-up: 7000A GC/MS, Agilent Technologies and Spectrum 400 FT-IR/FT-FIR, PerkinElmer
Best Email Campaign in 2008
Winner: Phenomenex
Runners-up: Analtech and Binder
Best Advertorial Banner Campaign in 2008
Winner: Agilent Automation Solutions
Runners-up: Tecan and Eppendorf
Best Graphical Banner Campaign in 2008
Winner: Thermo Fisher Laboratory Automation
Runners-up: Aurora and PBL InterferonSource
The Scientists' Choice Awards were based on the results of an independent poll of more than 25,000 scientists from the SelectScience online community, who were asked to nominate and vote for their favourite new products. The winners of the Web Awards were decided by SelectScience editors, based on user response/click-through rate.

"The Scientists' Choice Award for our AB SCIEX QTRAP 5500 System confirms that we have once again set a new standard for mass spectrometry instruments and that the scientific community is quickly embracing this unique technology."
Awards for European Best New General Lab and Life Science products will be announced and presented at Achema, Germany, in May.
